CALL FOR ENTRIES: FOTOCANAL, PHOTOGRAPHY BOOK

The General Directorate of Culture and Creative Industries of the Department of Culture, Tourism, and Sport of the Community of Madrid, in collaboration with DALPINE, announces the ninth edition of the Fotocanal Photography Book selection process for the co-publishing of a photographic project.

The program includes the production, publication, and distribution of a photobook.

The call is open to any photographer, regardless of their nationality, place of residence, or age.

The project’s theme is open, with the only requirement being that the work must be unpublished.

The Community of Madrid considers support for the visual arts one of the priorities of its cultural policy. For this reason, it develops a broad program of exhibitions, projects, and activities aimed at promoting the work of both great masters of photography and emerging and mid-career artists. It seeks to foster public access to and understanding of the various manifestations and trends surrounding photographic art, encourage debate and research on photographic production, and energize the artistic context in the region.

WHO CAN APPLY

Any photographer, regardless of their place of birth, residence, or age, may participate, provided they submit an unpublished project to the call, which has never been published in book format.

The photographer must be the sole owner of the copyright to the work.

WHAT WINNING THE CALL ENTAILS

The 2025 call involves editing, publishing, and distributing the project in photobook format with Dalpine. To this end, participants must guarantee that, if selected, they will provide all images in TIFF format, with a minimum width of 30 cm and 300 dpi.

The co-publishers will be responsible for editing, design, prepress, printing, distribution, and promotion of the book across all their national and international channels.

WHO SELECTS THE WINNING BOOK

A jury will select the winning proposal based on the quality of the project and its narrative potential. It will be composed of renowned industry professionals alongside representatives from the Community of Madrid and DALPINE publishing house.

HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR PROJECT

To apply, send a dossier to fotocanal2025@gmail.com including the following:

• A PDF document with a brief explanatory text about the project.

• A series of 30 to 60 photographs in JPEG format, approximately 1500x2000 pixels at 72 dpi.

Proposals that do not meet the required criteria will not be accepted.
