SCAN Tarragona 2024

We have just returned from the opening weekend of the SCAN Tarragona festival and we wanted to congratulate the organization and all those who have made it possible. If you have the opportunity, be sure to visit it at some point until December 15, 2024.

The XI edition of the SCAN Tarragona Festival has just opened, this year with the theme Cities as the common thread. At SCAN, since its beginnings in 2008, they have been committed to offering a space for thought and creation around emerging photography.

The opening weekend has been full of activities such as the live recording of an episode of the SCAN ÓCUL podcast directed by Alexandra Laudo and with the participation of Marta Dahó and Xavier Ribas; the collective exhibition TALENT LATENT, entitled “The City Revealed. Explorations of Urban Space” and curated by Érika Goyarrola in Tinglado 2 at the port of Tarragona; the exhibition "DAÍDALOS", curated by Houari Bouchenak and Xavier de Luca, which can be seen at the Refugi, another space in the city's port; the photobook exhibition “What is possible is also real” at the MAMT_Contemporary Art Museum in Tarragona, curated by Natasha Christia, and the meeting between young artists and agents of the art world FULL CONTACT, curated by Frederic Montornés and Sonia Berger at the Teatret del Serrallo. The festival programme will be completed with activities throughout October, November and December 2024.

After a few years in which we have not been able to attend the annual SCAN event, we are pleased to see that it is a consolidated festival, which is growing and maintains the proximity and quality of the proposals. As far as we are concerned this year, FULL CONTACT has been, as always, an enriching experience for both artists and reviewers, and the organisation, impeccable.
