'What history? Meeting on the photobooks made by women' at MNCARS

On the occasion of the opening of the exhibition ‘What They Saw. Historical photobooks made by women, 1843-1999’, curated by Russet Lederman and Olga Yatskevich, which will be opened on February 22, 2024, in Space D of the Library, the Reina Sofía National Museum of Contemporary Art organizes a meeting focused on a reflection on photobooks made by women.

The exhibition 'What They Saw: Historical Photobooks by Women, 1843-1999' and the publication of the same title, survey women's contribution to and involvement in the emergence and development of the photographic book from the dawn of photography through the 20th century.

The event organized by MNCARS consists of a conversation between editors Russet Lederman (co-founder of 10x10 Photobooks, New York) and Sonia Berger (Dalpine, Madrid) in which they will analyze the book and the exhibition “What They Saw: Historical Photobooks by Women, 1843-1999”, followed by the intervention of photographers Liza Ambrossio, Manuela Lorente and Lúa Ribeira.
